Do you have an old family tradition? Do you have a new family tradition? Tell me something special you did as a child at Christmas time? Are there special keepsakes you have of the holidays? I read all these blogs and see so many wonderful things, share more.

Our new family tradition is to do a Christmas brunch instead of lunch/dinner so Mere can stay in her pj's and play with her toys all day! =) I don't have many, but I want more traditions!
One of our traditions is that everyone gets to open up one gift on Christmas Eve and the gift is always a new set of pj's to sleep in that night. That way everyone is dressed up for Christmas morning pictures in their new pjs!
We sing Christmas Carols with my husband's family and the kids playing piano. Then the youngest reads a Christmas Story (Golden Book type). Then we get baby Jesus out of hiding. He always gets hidden in the old wooden clock. We sing "Away in the Manger" and put the baby Jesus figuring in his manger. (we hide him because he wasn't born until Christmas).
Lately we also have been buying a birthday cake for Jesus. Cuz kids would rather have that than fancy adult food.
We have a coffee cake birthday cake for Jesus when we first wake up Christmas morning before everyone goes in to see what Santa brought. We light candles and sing Happy Birthday and talk about Jesus being born. That helps us focus on what the day is really about before we get into the chaos of the presents and all.
My mom started this with us when I was little. I buy one new ornament each year but save it to put up on Christmas Eve after everyone has gone to bed. In the morning, no can open a gift until the kids find the new ornament. Whoever finds it first, opens the first gift. We really got into it:)
